The great thing about the solid Ring Sizer is that when placed on the finger, the sizer is completely hard as a real ring, so finding the size with 100% accuracy is assured when the sizer fits comfortably and you are still able to take it off.

If you are in a hurry, Abelstedt also offers a printable edition of the ring sizer that you can cut out. Print Abelstedt Size Guide.

Borrow One of Her Rings (for a Moment)

This is the method of which you have to be the most careful as it might backfire on you. Make sure that you grab the ring that she usually wears on a similarly sized finger on which she should wear the ring that you are to buy her. Here, the ring finger is usually the best option.

After grabbing the ring, use our printable Abelstedt Size Guide to measure her ring by placing it on the black circles until one of them is clearly visible around the inner edge of the ring.

Alternatively, If you are not able to print the Size Guide, you can grab a piece of paper and draw a circle on the inside of the ring. Do this several times to make sure that you ring traces look consistent. Then figure out the diameter in mm and compare it to the diameters stated on the above Abelstedt Size Guide.

Ask Her Friends

Another method is just to ask one of her friends, since girls occasionally have this information on each other. If she doesn’t, maybe you can persuade her to take your girlfriend jewelry shopping and figure out her ring size at a professional to report the size back to you.

When at a Party

If you are at a gathering and of your girlfriend’s friends is wearing a ring, ask her friend to let your girlfriend try on the ring. This will provide you with a good range and basis to start with. This might sound silly, since the chances of her hitting the right size is small, but it is actually a very effective method. You can also take the opportunity to ask what she thought of her friend’s ring (in private) to try to get a feel for the type of ring that she likes.

Be Subtle

If you still want to find out her ring size directly from her, ask your girlfriend in a subtle, smooth way by pretending that you are looking to buy a ring for your mom, sister, aunt etc. Make sure that it's someone whose hands are rather similar to your girlfriend’s. Casually ask what her ring size is for reference.
