1. Dreams from Copenhagen
I grew up in Odense, but later moved to Copenhagen with a dream that probably felt a bit too big for a girl my age, as I was only 17: to make jewelry that was as beautiful as it was affordable.
2. The First Beads
It started in my room with a bag of beads and far too much string. I made bracelets and sold them to friends and family.
3. To Hong Kong only
So, I packed a suitcase and flew to Hong Kong all by myself, without a plan, just with a lot of ideas in my head and a desire to figure things out along the way. It was there that I truly learned how jewelry is made.
4. A Community Emerges
I started sharing my designs on social media, and slowly, interest in my designs began to grow more and more.
In 2015, it became official: Abelstedt. The mission was simple: make life a little more beautiful, and I wanted to create jewelry that stood out, not just in appearance, but in the way it was made.
Establishing our own small goldsmith team in Hong Kong
For me, jewelry is art. In 2018, we opened our own factory with my best friend, who still runs it today, along with some of the most skilled goldsmiths I know. We were among the first to use a thicker plating than the standard, because we would never compromise.
New Beginnings and Hard Times
After moving into our cozy new office and opening stores on every street corner, it felt like the business was growing at lightning speed. But something didn't feel quite right.
I lost my passion for design in the midst of the hustle and bustle of running a business. To stay true to what really matters to me, I decided to only sell through an online store, where customers could interact directly with me as opposed to a middleman.
