Diamonds are tough, but not invincible. While diamonds are considered the hardest naturally occurring metal in the world, they can still fracture, bruise, and chip. Be mindful in which situations you wear your diamond ring, and if you wear your diamond ring stacked with another diamond ring, make sure that the diamonds are not scratching against each other.
Buildup of dirt or oil will block the light interactions in the stone so make sure to clean the diamonds regularly. Drop the diamond ring into a mug of warm water mixed with a few drops of soap or mild dishwashing detergent. Let it sit for a few minutes (or even overnight), then gently scrub the diamond and basket with a soft-bristled baby toothbrush, rinse, and pat dry. Important: Make sure you cover the drain.
It’s also a good idea to have your diamond ring prong checked from time to time.
